VWU Campus Ministries launched this gathering after COVID as a way to bring youth together again. Many youth leaders shared concerns about their smaller group sizes post-pandemic, and we recognized the need for a central place where students could connect. AS ONE was created to provide that space—a dynamic, monthly event where young people can worship, learn, and grow in community.
What makes this gathering special is that it’s entirely led by Campus Ministries students—young leaders who are passionate about God and open about their own faith journeys. The youth connect deeply with them, and over the past three years, these relationships have flourished.
What to Expect
Our format feels like a mini retreat or a giant youth group night:
- 4:00 PM – Arrival & name tag pickup
- Icebreaker game – A fun way to connect
- Welcome & group introductions
- Prayer, praise & worship music
- Interactive message – Led by multiple college students, featuring an object lesson, skit with youth participation, testimonial, and small group discussion
- 5:30 PM – Dinner together in the dining hall (All-you-can-eat: $3 for students, $5 for adults)
- 6:30–6:45 PM – Most groups depart (Dining hall closes at 7:00 PM)
Important Note: The dining hall does not accept cash, so please plan to use a leader’s charge card for payment.
We are especially grateful for the support of the VAUMC Grantmaking Cooperative and the Coastal Virginia District, whose investment in this program is shaping the lives of local youth while enriching the spiritual community on campus and beyond.
Wesleyan Worship AS ONE: Music & Message
AS ONE is a dynamic, student-led worship gathering held weekly in Monumental Chapel during the academic semesters. Guided by the Director of Campus Ministries, this Christian service features contemporary worship, prayer experiences, a biblical message, and opportunities for community building.
Students can develop their gifts in preaching, public speaking, music, and technical production, including sound and video.
After the service, students are invited to join Bible Community, a student-led Bible study for deeper connection and discussion.
