Assignment to an Advisor
Incoming transfer students who are entering VWU with a declared major will be paired with a faculty advisor from their chosen discipline. The pairing will be facilitated by the University Advising Coordinator. Only one faculty advisor will be assigned at the time of initial enrollment. Students interested in double majors or minors must declare and find additional faculty advisors after they have matriculated.
Transfer students who are entering VWU without a declared major will be assigned an academic advisor from University Advising. This academic advisor will work with the student until he or she is prepared to declare a major and move to a faculty advisor.
New Admit Meetings
Transfer students have the opportunity to schedule an individual meeting with University Advising during which a variety of university policies and procedures will be explained. These meetings are intended to help new transfer students transition smoothly into VWU. They do not take the place of the academic advising meetings that should happen with students’ faculty advisors. Invitations to new admit meetings will be sent to students’ VWU email addresses.
